On Thursday, July 20th, there will be a rally in Dunedin against the Employment Relations (Probationary Employment) Bill.
The rally will take place at 12:30 pm in front of the National Party office, 83 Moray Place, Dunedin, by the Octagon.
Be there!
If this bill is passed,
--->anyone starting a job in New Zealand could be fired for no reason in their first 90 days of work
--->new employees would have no ability to seek resolution to employment relationship problems
--->it would foster a climate of mistrust between employees and employers

  • This pisses me off....

It's actually what I do now... but for 12 months.

If I want to hire someone I use a temp agency and hire them that way... I only need give them an hours notice to dismiss them and I need not justify this in anyway.
Then, if after 12 months I want to take them on our books I do. (and their pay goes up a shitload compared to when the agency is taking their cut)

Under this bill I would be a lot more inclined to take people on our books straight away and give them as much of a shot as I would if I was using the agency. (only they would be payed about $3 an hour more)

People don't really get that current practice simply means that someone else is taking a cut in the wages of labourers... this law will stop that.

Why not take a look at what is actually happening before you rebel against it...?
